Perched high on Mount Doi Suthep is Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, a magnificent Buddhist temple draped in gold, also known as Doi Suthep Temple, the holiest temple in northern Thailand and one of the most sacred temples in Chiang Mai Province. Wat means temple in Thai, There are numerous numbers of hot springs in Thailand. Some places offer tourists to have a hot springs mineral bath experience such as San Kamphaeng Hot Springs in Chiang Mai.

The trip begins with a pleasant winding drive up 3,500 feet above sea level. You then huff and  puff as you ascend up the steps to the temple, guarded by two splendid Nagas. Doi Suthep temple built in 1383 is  the symbol of Chiang Mai. It is the most sacred temple in the city and contains the holy relic of the Lord Buddha  which is enshrned in the magnificent golden pagoda. A panoramic view of the city and the surrounding countryside can  be seen from the temple grounds.
