Authentic Thai Tours is a local tour operator based in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand.

We create private travel experiences for international visitors who want to discover Northern Thailand with local knowledge, personal attention, and a more comfortable pace.

Our work includes private tours, senior-friendly travel, wheelchair-accessible travel, and private transport throughout Chiang Mai and selected destinations in Northern Thailand.

We believe a good journey is not about visiting as many places as possible. It is about understanding our guests, planning carefully, and helping them experience Thailand in a way that feels comfortable, meaningful, and right for them.

Our Experience

Our experience in tourism began more than 20 years ago, working with international travelers in Chiang Mai and Northern Thailand.

Over the years, we have learned that every traveler is different. Some want to explore local culture in depth. Some prefer a slower pace. Some travel with elderly parents, and some require wheelchair accessibility or additional assistance during their journey.

This experience has shaped the way we work today: listen first, understand what each guest needs, and plan the journey around the person rather than expecting the person to fit the tour.

Meet Khom — Founder & Local Guide

Khom, the founder of Authentic Thai Tours, spent nine years ordained as a Buddhist monk before working in tourism.

During those years, he studied Buddhist teachings, mindfulness, Thai traditions, and temple life.

Today, that background gives our guests a different perspective when visiting temples and cultural sites. Rather than simply explaining what you see, Khom can share the meaning, traditions, and everyday cultural context behind these places.

It is local knowledge that comes from lived experience.

Accessible & Senior-Friendly Travel

Accessible travel is an important part of what we do.

We have real experience assisting senior travelers, wheelchair users, and families traveling with different mobility needs.

Our team has undertaken training in elderly care and care for people with dependency needs under Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health regulations. We also operate a wheelchair-accessible van equipped with a hydraulic lift.

We are not a medical transport or caregiver service. Our role is to provide accessible travel, private transport, and travel assistance with patience, careful planning, and an understanding that every guest has different needs and levels of comfort.
